Gianna DeCamella is a painter and writer who explores the nature of her intrusive thoughts through her work.  Her process involves a conversation between visual and verbal expression. As she describes it, her writing is frenetic, where her painting is methodical and allows for introspection. She often finds herself fixating on things that boil down to fear, memory, and nostalgia. It is the artist’s intention to contrast the weight of her intrusive thoughts with a dreamlike palette, mimicking the way the brain can subconsciously blur memories as a form of protection.

Her work has been shown in a juried exhibition at the Tower Fine Arts Center, winning awards for drawing and mixed media.  She is currently living in Western New York and completing her BFA at SUNY Brockport.
